Free Cycle Yojana 2024: Big Relief for Lakhs of Students
In a positive development for students across the state, the School Education Department has announced the distribution of bicycles to 4.5 lakh students attending government schools under the Free Cycle Supply Scheme for the academic year 2024-25.
To ensure smooth implementation of this initiative, the department has issued detailed guidelines to the District Education Officers, aiming to prevent any issues during execution. The scheme is designed to make education more accessible to students by providing them with a safe mode of transport. Below are the key details of the program.
Eligibility for the Free Cycle Scheme
The government, under the leadership of Dr. Mohan Yadav, has confirmed the provision of free bicycles to around 4.5 lakh students in 2024-25. This scheme, introduced by the Madhya Pradesh School Education Department, is exclusively for students in government schools. To qualify, students must live at least 2 kilometers away from their school or hostel.
Instructions to Ensure Quality and Safety
Officials have been directed to prioritize the strength, durability, and functionality of the bicycles to guarantee safe and convenient transport for the students. The District Education Officers have been tasked with ensuring that students newly enrolled in classes 6 and 9 receive bicycles free of charge. The scheme not only supports students in their education but also aims to ease transportation challenges faced by many.
Bicycles for Multiple Purposes
According to details provided on the Madhya Pradesh Education Portal, girls living in hostels will also receive bicycles under the scheme. These bicycles will not only help them commute to school but also assist with other essential errands. Once they leave the hostel, the bicycles must be returned.
Additionally, class 9 students will be provided with special 20-inch bicycles, tailored to meet their specific needs. This initiative is expected to empower female students, contributing to their education and independence.
